US-Bangla Airlines, one of the country’s private carriers, is ready to send its second batch of cadet pilots to the United States (US) to receive no-cost training to become aviators.

In an effort to increase client confidence in the carrier and ensure aviation safety, US-Bangla has taken the initiative to train pilots through a fully-funded program to meet the continuously increasing demand for pilots in the airlines.

Prior to the departure of the second batch of trainees, the airline today organized a function at a city hotel where State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Md. Mahbub Ali addressed as the chief guest.

On May 30, the 11 cadet pilots will fly to Florida in the US after receiving three-month ground training in Bangladesh to participate in a 10-month long flight training course at the Epic Flight Academy.

The first batch of 10 cadet pilots left Dhaka for the US on May 02 for the same purpose.

In his speech, the state minister said that this initiative of US- Bangla to send their cadet pilots to the US will certainly play a significant role in the expansion of the country’s aviation industry.

“We will require a rising number of trained and competent workforce at all levels of this industry, to continue this huge growth trend of the aviation sector and to contribute to the country’s economy,” he said.

Bangladesh Civil Aviation Authority (CAAB) has already launched the “Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Next Generation Aviation Professionals (NGAP) Scholarship” to develop more trained pilots, he added.

From May to June 2022, US-Bangla Airlines, with the help of Bangladesh Air Force HR experts, selected 21 cadet pilots out of 6,500 participants.

Once the training is done, the Bangladeshi cadets will obtain the Federal Aviation Administration Commercial Pilot Licence (FAA CPL).

CAAB Member (Operation and Planning) Air Commodore Sadekur Rahman Chowdhury, US Bangla Airlines Director (Flight Operations) Md Ilyas Malik and Strategic planning Director Mahbub Zaman also spoke on the occasion with US Bangla Group Executive Director Lt. Gen. (Retd.) M Mainul Islam in the chair.
